NTA specifies a few guidelines for the examination day to be strictly followed by all the candidates. These guidelines are as follows:

  • Time: Strictly adhere to the time on the day of the examination. Reach the centre 45- minutes before the exam.
  • Exam pattern & marking scheme – Thoroughly go through the pattern of the exam and the marking scheme.
  • Dress code – Follow the dress code specified by the NTA
  • Barred items – Make sure you go through the list of barred items and do not carry any of them with you.
  • Documents – Carry all the required documents on the day of the examination. Do a thorough re-check to ensure you are carrying all the documents.

Dress Code For NEET 2023

  • Both males and females candidates must opt for light colours, half-sleeved tops/t-shirts 
  • The dress should not have fancy/big buttons, embroidery, etc. 
  • Shoes are not allowed, instead wear slippers/sandals

Dress Code For Males:

  • Choose light colours, avoid long sleeves 
  • Light coloured pants or trousers should be worn 
  • Avoid jeans 
  • Sneakers/shoes/ boots are strictly not allowed instead wear slippers, or sandals with little to no heels 
  • Avoid layering clothes with jackets, coats etc. 
  • Kurta-pyjamas to be avoided Avoid accessories

Dress Codes for Females

  • Choose simple, light-coloured outfits 
  • Avoid long and fancy sleeves, opt for half sleeves 
  • Fancy embroidery, brooches, badges, designer frills, pockets, buttons, floral designs, etc. must be avoided 
  • Shoes, closed sandals, boots, high heels, stilettos, and fancy footwear is not permitted instead wear slippers or open-toed sandals Avoid layering your clothing with jackets, sweatshirts, shrugs, etc. 
  • Jewellery, accessories, and ornaments such as earrings, nose-pin, rings, necklaces, pendants, watches, belts, etc. are to be avoided on the whole 
  • Churidars/leggings must be avoided

Customary Dress

Certain candidates who cannot abide by the dress code guidelines due to religious commitments should specify the same while filling up the NEET online application form under the “customary dress” option.

These candidates have to report to the exam location at least one hour prior for thorough frisking and security checks.

Barred Items

Listed below is a set of items that are strictly prohibited in the exam hall.

  • Goggles, wallet, cap, handbags, belt, camera, watch/wristwatch, bracelet, etc. 
  • Stationery items such as pencils/pens, erasers, sharpeners, geometry/pencil box, writing pad, calculators, pouches, textual material, log table, etc.  
  • Pen drives, mobile devices, scanners, electronic pens, Bluetooth, microphones, earphones, pager, health bands and related accessories are strictly not permitted 
  • Eatables – open or packed, water bottle, etc.
