Most admissions for BSc Nursing are carried out through an entrance examination like NEET. 

Many states have their own examinations or procedures for admission to nursing courses. The entrance exams are usually held between the months of April-June by the universities. 


It may vary from one institute to another. All those who have cleared class12 with any stream from a recognized board/university are eligible to apply for BSc Nursing. And the designated entrance exam, whether state or university level should be taken for admission to this nursing course.

Eligibility for BSc Nursing

  • The minimum age for admission is 17 years as of 31st December of the year in which admission is desired and 35 years is the maximum age for eligibility. 
  • Candidates should have scored at least 45% aggregate marks in class 12 from a recognized board/university.
  • It is mandatory to clear the English subject individually.
  • The candidate should be medically fit.

Eligibility for BSc Nursing Post Basic

  • It requires a 10+2 and a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery-GNM, and registration from the State Nurses Registration Council. 
  • The candidate has to be medically fit.
  • It requires the candidate to submit proof of training under the Indian  Nursing Council in any domain like Ophthalmic Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing etc.

Eligibility for BSc Nursing Abroad

  • 15 years of study qualification.
  • 70% aggregate in class 12.
  • Proof of proficiency in the English language.
