CLAT Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for the CLAT exam is based on the principle of negative marking. This means that for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total marks obtained by the candidate.

For every correct answer, one mark will be awarded, and for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. However, for questions that are not attempted, no marks will be awarded or deducted.

The final score obtained by a candidate in the CLAT exam is calculated by subtracting the total marks deducted for incorrect answers from the total marks obtained for correct answers. The resulting score is the candidate's overall score in the exam.

Importance of Understanding the Marking Scheme:

  • Understanding the CLAT exam marking scheme is crucial for law aspirants as it helps them to strategize their approach toward the exam. Candidates need to be careful while attempting the questions as every incorrect answer leads to a negative marking.
  • Candidates need to prioritize their time during the exam and attempt questions that they are confident about. It's important to not attempt questions that they are unsure of as this may lead to negative marking.
